sammon_backup_map
- make a backup of the current map (LOCAL)
SYNOPSIS

ARGUMENTS
None.
RETURNS
Nothing.
FUNCTION
This function copies the global variable map to backup (see
SAMMON-VARIABLES). It is used in sammon_solve to prevent
overshoot when minimizing Sammon's stress measure. If the stress rises
after a number of iterations, the last backup can be recalled using
sammon_restore_map.
